A multisensory artistic experience will take you on a breathtaking journey through the final stages of Vincent van Gogh's creative life, transporting you to the French cities of Arles, Saint-Rémy and Auvers-sur-Oise — the places where, between 1888 and 1890, the works that today rank among the most celebrated in the history of art came into being.
For the first time, this remarkable exhibition focuses on Johanna van Gogh, — known as Jo— the wife of Theo van Gogh, telling the moving story of Vincent's final years from her unique perspective: an emotional viewpoint that cuts deep. More than 400 works —bold, powerful and visionary, yet until then rejected by the world. What follows is one of the most extraordinary stories in art history: Jo, alone and without formal education, ensures that Vincent van Gogh is not forgotten.
Through an audio guide, you will be accompanied through the exhibition, with Johanna van Gogh symbolically taking you by the hand and guiding you through Vincent van Gogh's life.
Using state- of-the-art technology, Van Gogh's works are projected onto vast surfaces, creating a visual whole that, in pulsating light, stages his unmistakable colours and brushstrokes anew.
Vincent van Gogh is among the most important artists of Post-Impressionism, and with his expressive works he fundamentally influenced the world of art. He did not begin painting seriously until the age of 27, having previously worked as, among other things, a bookseller, a teacher and a lay preacher. His life was marked by existential crises, family conflicts and health problems. Despite all this, he found in art a language whose letters and words were colours. He himself wrote that he wanted to "take revenge with radiant, well-arranged, beautiful colour" whenever he felt ugly, old, wicked, ill or poor.

The Vincent Van Gogh exhibition offers a modern and engaging way to introduce pupils and
students to art history,
the life of a great artist, and the powerful human stories behind his work.
It has been designed to appeal to both primary and secondary school pupils through image, sound,
light and
emotion. Pupils and students do not simply become spectators — they become part of an
artistic space
that draws them into Van Gogh's world.
The multisensory exhibition will guide pupils through the final stages of Vincent van Gogh's life and work in the French cities of Arles, Saint-Rémy and Auvers-sur-Oise, where his most celebrated works were created. Through large-format projections, music and spoken word, students will be able to experience art in a new and modern way.
A distinctive feature of the exhibition is the story of Johanna van Gogh-Bonger, who — following
the deaths of both Vincent and his brother
Theo — played a crucial role in preserving and
promoting Van Gogh's work around the world. The exhibition
thus offers not only an artistic but also a historical and human dimension.
The educational tour is an ideal complement to teaching subjects such as:
Pupils will gain insight into the Post-Impressionist period, the life and work of Vincent van Gogh,
the significance of artistic expression, and the power of human perseverance.
The experience also includes an audio guide that sensitively conveys the artist's story, his
relationship with his brother
Theo, and the creation of his iconic works. The audio guide is free of charge for school groups.
The educational tour can be an excellent addition to school trips, cultural days or
thematic lessons.

To ensure a smooth visit, please book your time slot in advance. The group discount applies only on the basis of a prior reservation via the contact form or our information line.
Tickets are available for advance purchase online or directly on site at the box office in Sport Mall Bratislava — the box office is open from 09:00 to 18:00. Tickets are sold for a specific date and time. However, due to a limited number of visitors per hour, capacity for a given slot may sell out. In that case, we recommend buying tickets in advance.
A VIP ticket comes with several advantages. You can choose any day to visit the exhibition. If there are a lot of visitors at the entrance or at accompanying events, you get priority access.
There is a car park directly in front of the entrance to Sport Mall Bratislava. Parking is free of charge.
The exhibition takes place at Sport Mall Bratislava, Hodonínska 27 (opposite the Crematorium, next to OBI, on the other side of the motorway — across from Bory Mall).

From the main railway station: Head down to Šancová Street. At the Pod stanicou stop, take Bus No. 21 to the Patrónka stop. There, change to Bus No. 37, which will take you directly to Sport Mall — stop: Pri Krematóriu.
From the Nivy bus station: Take a suburban bus towards Záhorie (No. 219, 245, 250, 251, 269, 299) and alight directly at the stop in front of Sport Mall — Pri Krematóriu.
By car – Sport Mall Bratislava is located at Hodonínska 27 in Lamač. There is a highway exit in the immediate vicinity of the center.
Yes, both the exhibition and Sport Mall Bratislava are fully accessible. Entry is possible with a stroller as well as in a wheelchair.
The exhibition covers an area of 3,000 m². Entry is limited by the number of visitors per hour, so you will have plenty of space and comfort during your visit.
Restrooms are located in the Sport Mall Bratislava building, on each floor separately.
Photography and filming for private use is permitted, but without flash.
Given the nature of the exhibition, no animals are permitted.
If you'd prefer not to queue at the box office, we offer tickets with a specific time slot.
When purchasing your ticket online, you choose the time that best suits your visit. Time slots are available on the hour (09:00, 10:00, 11:00, etc.).
The slot indicates the window within which you
should arrive at the exhibition — for example, the 11:00 slot means you may arrive at any time
between 11:00 and 11:59. You are welcome to stay inside for as long as you like.
If you do not arrive within your one-hour slot window and the exhibition is busy, you will not be
admitted immediately — you will be placed in a waiting queue instead.
At the on-site box office in Sport Mall Bratislava, payment is accepted by cash or card only. Online sales are handled through official partners — GOOUT and Ticketportal — where payment via their contracted benefit partners may be available.
You are welcome to stay inside for as long as you like — we recommend allowing at least 75 minutes. Once inside, there is no time limit on your visit.
A family ticket covers a maximum of 5 people — two adults and up to 3 children aged 15 or under (inclusive).
Each additional child must purchase a separate ticket, which is valid only in combination with a family ticket.
